News / Updates:

June 2008: for everyone that cares, I bought myself a new laptop and Guitar Rig 3..having a blast unlocking the possibilities of the new setup..might post clips and settings later on...if you want more info on the setup that works for me it's this gateway computer and basically letting guitar rig's kontrol be the audio interface..fast enough to do pretty much everything i want...

April 2008: so yeah, on one of the guitar player forums i visit (the John Petrucci forum), someone posted a link to a contest kinda like that singing show with IDOL in it...you can either download backing tracks and do yer thang over them, or you can submit some kind of original material..kinda like the Guitar Center 'King of the Blues' site, but judging counts on this one...so, naturally, i am always interested in backing tracks..I downloaded them all and went through them until i found one that sparked my interest..the genre is "Metalcore" and the backing track was created by Andy James (who i believe is on my friend's list)...fun romp...did pretty much 80 percent of it in one take and with old strings (you can hear them squeak)...my page there is at:

My guitar Idol Page

i really don't care about votes..i just thought it would be fun to upload something new...haha..i will post the track on my own site later...if anyone that reads this is interested in signing up (and i know the 2 of you that read this might be interested)..the site again is:

The Guitar Idol UK page

prizes include some free instruments, record deal, and some other stuff i didn't read up on...

XMAS 2007: Updated the gear section to show all the guitars i have as well as some settings i use for my roland gt8..any questions regarding my tone, feel free to email me..it has changed somewhat..hopefully there will be clips later..I am also waiting for my copies of ezdrummer software and expansion packs..i plan to rerecord all the ideas i have so far with both that plugin and my new tones..oh and if you have a line 6 guitar port or any of their gearbox software and would like some of my favorite presets, email me and i will post them too (mainly dirty tones)

May 2007: Another backing track thing..this one, i had to shorten...tried to establish some kind of melody and yeah..mistakes..and an obvious punch in..titled "freddieguts and the smooth jazz backing track"...enjoy

November 2006: Still having a little computer trouble (or am i going nuts?)..anyway, as a test, i recorded over yet another backing track called "AntiMatter"..it is actually a smaller edit of that track and quite sloppy..hey 2 takes..then again, it is for fun anyway...enjoy

September 2006: I have been working on some new music but experienced some computer trouble..have to rerecord all of them (not to worry, i only had 4 tunes so far)..in the meantime, i had this melodic idea in my head that went with a backing track of a tune called Bluetude that was recreated by Scott Lerner..you can learn more about Scott by visiting his website at http://www.scottlernermusic.com/

March 2006: I finally heard some of my tunes at a public place..being pumped through a house PA system. A friend of mine is a DJ and liked my stuff enough to play all of it one night..thanks Vic...been so long but I have a alternate page on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/freddiegutierrez

January 2006: NAMM was a blast again, always fun to hang out with my friends from online and talk about everything..saw a bunch of great musicians and products..got to jam with an old guitar teacher from GIT, one of his students, a great singer and drummer and a couple of cool guitar nuts...uploaded an old song I recorded in 2000. I wanted to have a vibe similar to one of the songs on cheech and chong's "Up in Smoke" (Theme from a big green van)..not any shred but a fun tune...
